Reflexology is a gentle and non invasive complimentary therapy based on the theory that there are reflexes in the feet and hands that correspond to all the organs, glands, structures and tissues of the body. Please click here to be directed to an interactive foot map.
A specific massage is applied (usually to the feet) using deep pressure and massage techniques to target the reflexes locating areas of imbalance. An experienced therapist will work to locate and eliminate any imbalances felt, and the aim is, where possible that this encourages the body to heal itself, returning proper function. Imbalances may be the result of past or present injuries, stresses or illnesses from which the body has never truly healed.
Reflexology offers deep relaxation to the whole body, relaxing the nervous system whilst improving the circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids around the body which are so vital for the proper functioning of our bodies systems, altogether a very pleasurable method of promoting and maintaining good physical, emotional and mental health.
It is important to note that Reflexologists work as a compliment to conventional methods of treatment, not as a substitute and that we do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. Reflexology is accepted by many GPs and other healthcare professionals within the NHS.
